Smoked Ham and Split Pea Soup

    INGREDIENTS

    • 200g dried green split peas, washed
    • 250ml boiling water
    • 2 eschallots, diced
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 200g ham off the bone, roughly chopped
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 2 sprigs thyme
    • 2 carrots, peeled, diced
    • 2 stalks celery, diced
    • 1 tsp black peppercorns
    • 1/2 cup white wine
    • 500ml vegetable stock
    • 1⁄4 cup roughly chopped parsley
    • 1 tbsp roughly shopped dill, to serve
    • 4 slices sour dough, to serve

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a heatproof bowl, add the split peas and boiling water and allow to stand for 30 minutes.
    2. Place the split peas, water, eschallots, garlic, ham, bay leaf, thyme, carrot, celery, peppercorns, white wine and stock into the soup maker jug.
    3. Place the soup maker motor body/lid on to the soup jug.
    4. Select the ‘CHUNKY’ soup setting and then select the ‘START’ button.
    5. Select the ‘BLEND’ setting and then select the ‘START’ button.
    6. Serve soup with chopped parsley and sour dough bread.

      Ingredients call for 250ml of boiling water to wash peas in but then also calls to add water to the soup maker but does not explain the quantity of water to be added

    • Hi Greme. The water shouldn't be drained, but gets added into the recipe. Thanks for letting us know. This is now fixed up.
