French Onion Soup

INGREDIENTS
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 50g butter
- 5 onions (about 900g), thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 750ml chicken stock
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 thyme sprigs
- 4 pieces fresh bread, to serve
DIRECTIONS
- In a saucepan, heat the butter and oil. Add the onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Place the onions, sugar, stock, vinegar, bay leaves and thyme into the soup maker jug.
- Place the soup maker motor body/lid on to the soup jug.
- Select the ‘CHUNKY’ soup setting and then select the ‘START’ button. 5. Serve soup with fresh bread.
