Healthy Hamburgers and Hand Cut Chips

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup olive oil
    • 500 grams lean beef mince
    • 1 x 59g free range egg
    • 1 brown onion peeled, diced
    • 2 clove garlic peeled, minced
    • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
    • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
    • 6 burger buns
    • 6 lettuce leaves washed, dried
    • 12 slice tomato

    Chips

    • 1 kilogram royal blue potatoes cut into 2cm sized chips
    • 3 litres vegetable oil
    • 1 tablespoon flaked salt

    Directions

    1. Fill and preheat a 3L deep fryer with oil.
    2. Preheat an electric frypan to a medium heat. Add olive oil and allow to heat.
    3. In a bowl, combine the mince, egg, onion, garlic, sauces, herbs and breadcrumbs. Roll into 6 balls and then flatten into patties. Place into the electric frypan and cook for 3 minutes on each side. Remove and place onto paper towel.
    4. Add chips to deep fryer and allow to cook for 6 minutes. Drain on paper towel and sprinkle with flaked salt.
    5. To assemble buns, add 1 lettuce leaf, 2 slices of tomato, 1 burger patty and top with BBQ sauce. Serve with chips.
