Autumn in my kitchen garden is producing rhubarb. I love that this allows me to go and grab a stalk here and there as needed.  If you are not growing your own rhubarb, now is the best time to collect a bunch at your local fruit store and make a pie as well!

With the weather becoming cooler, it is the season of colds and flu. This rhubarb, ginger, fruit juice is a great health booster.  The fruit juices and rhubarb provide a vitamin C boost. In addition to this, ginger is traditionally known for it’s ability to ease coughs and bronchitic conditions*

This smoothie is a little grainy in texture if you do not blend it well enough. You may choose to cook the rhubarb first but I tend to prefer to use my home grown produce fresh, rather than cooked. Plus it is much quicker to make if you use it raw. Do not eat the leaves of the rhubarb plant as they are considered to be toxic
